The 1980’s was a great year for Metal bands. Motley Crue is one of the best. I still rock out to Looks That Kill when I hear it. I also like Metallica, Ratt, and Twisted Sister.
Cranberrysauce7, who says that 60’s band are overrated? That is when and where Heavy Metal started. Listen to Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly for example. Many of the later Metal bands cite these bands as influences. Oh well, whatever floats your boat…

im 37 and i still jam hardcore to this group as well as judas priest,ratt, the 80s rock is totally awesome even most of the younger generations listen to this like my 2 teenage boys 20 and 18 listen to iron maiden,megadeth, all what i listen to and they love it!!!!

Actually, back then, Metallica’s origins were from “thrash/speed metal”… Motley Crue was considered heavy metal (some people considered it L.A. metal back then also). It used to be easier back then, there was basically, hair, glam, thrash, speed, black, death, and good ol’ heavy metal, that was about it, lol. I lived, ate, breathed, and slept that lifestyle back then and yes, I have great memories of jammin’ at the clubs. Nowadays, there are far too many ‘metal’ monikers and no substance.
